作詞: Isaac Watters(1674-1748) 

以撒‧華滋 出生於英國漢普郡的南安普敦市。他是一位教師的兒子。據說他自幼便展現出驚人的早慧，四歲開始學習拉丁語，七歲時就能創作出相當優秀的詩歌。十六歲時，他前往倫敦，在獨立教會牧師托馬斯·羅伊的學院學習。 1698年，他成為倫敦貝里街獨立教會的助理牧師。 1702年，他升任牧師。 1712年，他應邀前往托馬斯·阿布尼爵士位於阿布尼公園的住所拜訪，並在阿布尼爵士的懇切請求下，定居於此，直至終老。

作曲: Thomas A. Arne(1710-1778)  

托馬斯·奧古斯丁·阿恩 是英國巴洛克晚期和古典主義早期的作曲家。
