作詞: Washington  Gladden 華盛頓·葛來登（1836-1918）

葛來登 於1882年受召前往俄亥俄州哥倫布市第一公理會教堂，並在那裡服事了32年。 他於1879年創作了此詩 "O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee"《主啊，讓我與祢同行》。

作曲: H. Percy Smith  H·珀西·史密斯 (1825-1898)

 史密斯 1850年授職在牛津貝列爾學院（Ball­i­ol Coll­ege）任命為聖公會的神父。1849-1851年擔任助理牧師，之後一直到1868年，改為擔任薩福克（Suf­folk）的Great Bar­ton 助理牧師。1882年擔任法國坎城基督教堂的隨軍牧師。
