韋特出生於美國馬薩諸塞州，是美國19世紀福音歌曲作詞家、福音傳道者和聖經教師。他寫的另一首詩歌I know Whom I have Believed「#136 我知所信的是誰」

麥格漢出生於美國賓州，也是19世紀的音樂家和作曲家，以創作各種讚美詩聞名。
