             Charles H. Gabriel (1856 - 1932) 

他的音樂天賦在他童年的家鄉威爾頓就廣為人知。

民間傳說威爾頓第一長老會的牧師（波洛克牧師或麥考利牧師）曾在一周初看到加布里埃爾在鎮上散步。他問加百列是否知道一首適合他講道的歌曲。牧師分享了講道主題，到那一週結束的時候，這個男孩就為那個星期天創作了一首歌曲，包括歌詞和音樂。 麥考利牧師在威爾頓教會擔任牧師多年，據說年輕的加布里埃爾也為麥考利的一首歌曲譜曲。

1982年，他入選福音音樂名人堂。
